Why Warm-Up?

Everyone knows they should warm up but not everyone knows exactly why or how. All workouts should start with a general cardio-based activity like jogging, skipping, etc. Then mobility, dynamic ROM, and activation should be addressed. From there, specific movements and drills related to the exercise at hand should be performed. Working load and intensity should be achieved progressively.

Why should you warm up?

  1. Increase core body temperature

  2. Increase enzymatic activity

  3. Increase joint mobility/stability

  4. Prepare CNS and cardiovascular system for intense efforts

  5. Mental preparation

  6. Reduce risk of injury
